Fundamental Scriptures: Mathew 13:15
In the book of Matthew, Jesus gives us the answer to healing. Jesus said:
For this people’s heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.Matthew 13:15 KJV
Note that Jesus speaks of three things: 1). The heart, 2). the ears, 3). the eyes.
THE PROBLEM: 1. Heart is waxed gross, 2. ears are dull of hearing, 3. eyes are closed.
Of coarse Jesus is speaking figuratively and not literal. But to better understand what this really means, let us check out the original Greek words for this passage.
|heart waxed gross||G3975 παχύνω pachunō||Strong’s Definition: From a derivative of G4078 (meaning thick); to thicken that is (by implication) to fatten (figuratively stupefy or render callous)|
Thayer’s Definition: 1. to make thick, to make fat, fatten. 2. metaph. to make stupid (to render the soul dull or callous)
|dull of hearing||G917|
Strong’s Definition: Adverb from G926; heavily (figuratively), that is, to make something slow because of weight, like a slow mind, retarded or dumb.
Thayer’s Definition: 1. heavily, with difficulty
|Strong’s Definition: For a compound of G2596 and the base of *G3466; to shut down that is close the eyes.|
Thayer’s Definition: 1. to shut the eyes, close the eyes
|a secret or mystery.|
The Answer to Healing is Three-fold
SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM: 1). See with the eyes, 2). Hear with the ears, 3). understand with the heart.
Studying these Greek words helps us find the answer to healing. Here’s our personal interpretation of what Matthew 13:15 says:
For your heart [inner man] has become insensible (heartless, stone-hearted, indifferent) , your ears are heavy of too much hearing, you have closed your eyes (making the truth a mystery); (you do this) so you won’t see (the truth) with your eyes; and not hear (the Word or pay attention) with the ears, and (you do this) so you won’t understand [in other words, believe the Word, Romans 10:9], (because if you would see, hear and believe) then you would change your ways and your thinking, and I would heal you.”
We learn here that the problem is in the heart of man or in the spirit of man. When we came to believe in Jesus and receive His Holy Spirit the Bible says we were reborn of the Spirit and given a new spirit to believe. “And I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within you; and I will take the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them an heart of flesh: That they may walk in my statutes, and keep mine ordinances, and do them: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God.” Ezekiel 11:19-20 KJV. The “new spirit” spoke in Ezekiel is the Holy Spirit that was given to us the moment we converted to this new life in Christ Jesus, Romans 8:15-16. The issue of the heart was taken care the moment we were reborn of the spirit.
Can A Believer Once Again Hardened His Heart After Conversion?
Yes he can. If we don’t lay aside our ways of thinking the moment we came into the Kingdom of God we continue to live with a mind in captivity. The Word says to renew our minds. Even though our spirits are delivered from sin and death we can continue to live in captivity outwardly if we don’t change our attitudes and align ourselves to God’s truths in the Word.
Repentance in the Greek means: “to change one’s mind’. So part of our conversion into the Kingdom of God is that we become sensible to the Word of God. To be sensible to God’s Word is to convinced that the Word is the absolute truth.
How do we know if we have come to believe? When we act according to truth.
Hearing The Truth But Not Hearing at All is NOT the Answer to Healing
How many times do we go to church and hear the same message over and over? And it seems that the more we hear the less we care to live and apply what’s being to preached in our lives. Many of us are in that situation. We keep hearing that Jesus bore our sickness and diseases at the cross but those words don’t actually do anything in us. We have dull hears, we have heard too much without caring to apply it to our lives. The reality is He did destroy sickness and disease at the cross, but we fail to live that reality.
To hear means: “to take for consideration, to acknowledge”.
How do we know if we are actually hearing the Truth? When we STOP hearing the world and the devil. The world is scared and panics over spreads of viruses. The corona virus has caused such great impact in the world right now. I bet that more than 90% of Christians are scared to hell about this virus because they decide to hear the World and not the WORD.
Making The Truth a Secret is NOT an Answer to Healing
When nothing is hidden anymore. And the mysteries of the Old Testament have now been reveal clearly through Jesus. We make the Truth a secret when we fail to look what already been revealed. Paul said, that the veil that did not allow us to see has now been taken away through Christ. If we understood the reason why the Lamb came to die for us and what He accomplished through His death and resurrection, we would be able to see differently. The problem is that we hear the message too much that we have turn it into an historical event. Something that just happen in the past. We fail to live daily into His death and resurrection.
How can we see this when our eyes are set on the things from this world, when we can only see the weakness of our flesh?
So the Truth remains a mystery to many Christians. And our answers to the things we don’t know is “It’s God’s will for me to be sick and dying”.
Did God really put that sickness on you?
The answer to our healing is have a change heart, hear God words, and don’t cover your eyes but see the Truth.
