The Bible is a book of covenants. From Adam all the way until the first coming of Christ we see in the Word that God makes covenants with man.

Our English and Spanish languages has been getting poorer through the years. The meaning of words have been changing with time. That's sometimes it's important to study certain Biblical subjects in their original language.

The word "Covenant" is a very old word. Its origin was before the time of Abraham. And because the word is so old it has lost its real meaning. Now a day's we substitute the word "covenant" with the word "testament". We must discover the real meanings of these words and renew our minds.

In all old civilizations we see that it was normal and a custom to cut a covenant of blood. For example if we study the history of our town or country we grew up in, 100 to 200 years back, it's a for sure thing that it was a custom to make covenants of blood. The most recent and modern civilizations have abandon this practice to the point where its meaning and effectiveness has been lost.

The world has its own idea of what it means to be civilized. The more we let the world "civilize" us, more and more we separate ourselves from a blood covenant to a covenant made by ink. The result of that is that we become a civilization of liars, cheater, traitors and murderers.

To be able to understand the New Covenant, aka New Testament, we have to understand the profoundness of the Blood Covenant and the way it was cut during the time of the Old Testament.

In this new study on the covenant we will go deep in the reasons there had to be a covenant cut between God and Abraham and how that covenant affects us now through Christ Jesus.

# **III. **After the Fall, God Creates Another Man with His Word, The Son of Man, and Makes Covenant with Man

**
Read: Hebrews 1:6-12

**Intro: After His death Jesus is re-introduced to the world as the **First Begotten** or **Firstborn**. First begotten because He is the first man to be reborn, the first to raise from the death. God gives this new man the authority once given to Adam at the garden of eden.

Jesus said: *"**All** **authority** (**all** power of absolute rule) in heaven and on earth has been given to Me"* *Matthew 28:18 AMP.*

Jesus man was highly exalted, and given a name which is above every other name (*Philippians 2:8-10*). As God he is worshipped by angels and all creation.

**A.** **The Word was made Flesh;** begotten, the Word of power gave birth **(John 1:14)**
1. The Word made Flesh became to be the Second or the Last Man (Adam).** **(*1 Corinthians 15:45*)
1. Jesus Christ became the substitute for the price of sin that the First Adam committed by the First man (Adam). Jesus took back the dominion, the authority and inheritance that belong to Man. [see. God of Covenants - Lesson 1 • God Makes Covenant with the First Adam]

**B. God Makes Covenant With Man **
* God made covenant with the First Man (Adam) when He said to them *"Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion...." Genesis 1:28. *This gave the first man authority and dominion to rule over the entire creation of God.
* God made covenant with the Last Man (Jesus) when He said to Him, the Son *"Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a scepter of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom...." Hebrews 1:8-13. *Jesus man was established as King over the entire Heavens and Earth. Jesus' authority, dominion and kingdom is far greater from Adams'.

Not many of us know that Jesus is the Last Adam as the scripture teaches. We are use to hearing that Jesus is God, and He is, but not much is spoken of His humanity. If we understood more in depth of His humanity, we would be able to comprehend much of how His humanity applies to us now.

# **II. God Creates Man as His Image with the Power of His Words**

**

Read: Genesis 1:26-30**

**A. God Makes Covenant with Man
**
Note: There was no need for God to shed blood to make a covenant with Adam. God made covenant with Adam (man) with His Words.

1. God forms man from the earth (his body), but created the life in man when God breath in man, His breath of life, Gen 2:7.
**a. **Gen. 1:26** " ... ***Let us make man in our** image**," , *in hebrew means "*phantom,* *resemblance*"
**b. **Gen. 1:26 " ... *after our **likeness,**" *in hebrew means "*resemblance, shape, similitude"*
1. With this we conclude that Adam was the exact image of God in the flesh. We could have put Adam and God next to each other and see that they were identical. One being spirit in the other flesh.

Note: When we look at our shadow, we see our figure and not something else.

**B. God Delegates Authority to Man BY HIS WORDS (Genesis 1:28)**

---> Because there was no need to make covenant with Man through the shedding of blood, God's Word was sufficient for Man and God become covenant partners here on Earth.

**1. **Man's dominion also included dominion over the sun, moon,
and the stars. (Anything that can be seen or touch, material things).

**Psalm 8:3-8 KJV**
> [3] When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained; [4] What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him? [5] For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour. [6] Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet: [7] All sheep and oxen, yea, and the beasts of the field; [8] The fowl of the air, and the fish of the sea, and whatsoever passeth through the paths of the seas.

The Psalmist sees the stars, the moon, and the sun, and he is reminded that ALL of what he's seeing was under man's feet. In other words, man had authority over all the works of God.

God breathed the breath of life to man. Man became a living soul. Then God delegated authority to man when He said: ***"Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over..." ***This was all done through Words. Adam received the Words. That is how God made covenant with man.

In later post we will get in depth of what is a covenant.

We see through out the Word that God makes covenants with man. He made covenant with Adam (the first man, and head of humanity). He made covenant with the Last Adam (the Head of the Church.

**I. GOD RELEASED HIS WORD**

---> A. When God Speaks, He Speaks with Words of Faith **(Hebrews 11:3)**
> *"Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear."*

1. The world, the universe, was all created by the Word of God. The things that we see with our eyes was not made by any material substance but by the force of faith in Gods' Words.
1. "...*were framed.*..", in Greek is **Katartizo; **means= "to adjust; put in order again; to restore."

**CONCLUSION:

**We can conclude that there's great power in God Words. His Words have the ability to create. The Bible says in Hebrews 11:3 that He created the Heavens and the Earth through Faith. We see that Words have power and authority. That when God speaks it is done!
